Your 2023 Commissioner's Challenge
We Have a New Champion and It's Klay4President!Klay4President takes the 2023 challenge! The lowest score ever to win it with 94 points! It was a survival kind of year. I will be contacting K4P (see what I did there) along with Friar Sudds who took second with 92 points. Also RewPaul took third and will collect the third place money. In a three way tie for fourth and collecting $160 each was The Punisher, Jimmy Buckets, and KingoftheHardwood. And I just have to mention that a strong competitor over the years just narrowly missed claiming the all time low! Bronco Buster scored 33 points just 2 points higher than the all time low. Good job all!
See you next year and look for the email subject line:

The Rules
Same as before. You will all start with 187 points. All first round games are worth 1 point each. Second round is worth 3, third worth 5, forth is worth 8, Final Four games are worth 10 points, and the Championship Game is worth 15 points. As your teams are beaten, points will be subtracted from your total depending on how far you had that team going in the tournament. For First Place only, if there is a tie, the winner will be decided by who has picked the most correct games (pick percentage). If there is still a tie, it will remain a tie and we will have co-champs! As always, substance abuse is discouraged, but is not a violation of the official rule book. Steroid use is frowned upon because it just doesn't look attractive on any of us.
A few fun facts:
In twenty-three years of running the tournament, we have had only two ties for first. The average winning score has been 121 points. All time high score was Swammie in 2007 with 161 points, and the all time low winner was 94 points by Klay4President in 2023. The worst score ever posted was by HappyFeet in 2011 with a whopping 31 points! The Commissioner has cashed only once in the last 24 years with a third place finish in 2010. EEMAN, one of The Commissioner's Demon Spawns cashed in 2022. Mrs. Commish and the other Demon Spawns have never cashed.

L.A. Times: In the '80 Olympics, the U.S. basketball team, coached by Bobby Knight, played and beat the Chinese team handily. When asked about the win, Bobby said, "It was a lot of fun playing the Chinese, but an hour later, we wanted to play them again."
